Volunteers gather to count nesting and migratory bald eagles around the lake. The birds are often spotted nesting in tall, dead trees along the shoreline of the lake.

Tommy Duncan Festival, 2nd or 3rd weekend in January

Festival celebrating the life and music of Tommy Duncan, a founding member of the Texas Playboys. Tommy was born near Whitney in 1911. Events typically include a catered dinner, along with Western swing musicians performing during the afternoon and evening.

January or February
Annual catered dinner to recognize local businesses and individuals. A silent auction, and a live auction, keep participants' interest throughout the evening

Chocolate Festival, Saturday before Valentine's Day
All things chocolate are featured at this local festival. Traditional chocolate delights like a chocolate fountain are offered, as are more unusual foods like chocolate chili.
The event is sponsored by, and held at, the Laguna Park Library. It is located on Highway 22, just west of the Whitney Dam.

Every other spring, Whitney welcomes the Carson & Barnes circus, with its spectacular big top tent.

Easter Egg Hunts, 
Easter Sunday
Visitors' and residents' kids of all ages participate in this annual event. Town Hall Estates sponsors one event, and White Bluff Resort sponsors another.

Lawn Mower Races, 
Saturday in late March or early April
Racers get together to show off their prized racing machines. Races feature riding lawn mowers, with cutting blades removed, at speeds up to 60 mph.

Bosque County Garage Sale, Friday & Saturday, usually in early April

Over 100 individuals throughout the county hold garage sales on this weekend. A map to the current year's sales can be picked up in local convenience stores, or by emailing bosque@ag.tamu.edu

Monarch Butterfly & Nature Festival, last Saturday in April

Come enjoy the butterflies and the wildflowers at this Certified Texas Wildscape. Artists display their works, and booths explain butterflies, birds, fossils, and wildlife.
Admission is free. Live entertainment and door prizes. Sponsored by Cherokee Village Resort and Nature Center.

37 miles of shopping along FM-4, from Cleburne, through Grandview and Itasca, to Maypearl. There are antique vendors who travel here from throughout the country, homebaked goods, quilts, decorative western items, yard sale merchandise, and lots more.

Youth Fishing Tournament, 1st Saturday in June
Kids up to age 13 can learn to fish and compete for prizes in this half-day youth fishing tournament held at Lake Whitney State Park. Tackle and lunch are provided.
The tournament is free, but adults will need to pay the park entrance fee of $3.

Father's Day Tailgate Cookoff, Saturday before Father's Day
