A Ribbon Cutting ceremony was held Thursday, June 2 for Family Home Health Care located at 108 S. Colorado Street in Whitney!
Family Home Health Care, is owned by Michael and Diane Ward and Dr. Clay and Mrs. Linda Pickering. They and their staff are committed to providing compassionate, personalized healthcare. Working together as a family, they are improving the health of the community they serve.
Some of the services they provide are 24/7 on-call nurse, skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, case management and medical social services. They believe being at home gives the patient a sense of comfort and peace. The patient has the opportunity to enjoy the comfort and familiar surroundings of their own home, and be near family and friends during their recovery.

On Tuesday, May 3 the Lake Whitney Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Whitney CERT at the Lake Whitney Library.
Whitney CERT is a community emergency response team and they assist first responders during a disaster or when asked to assist in other circumstances by police or fire departments.

Hill College recognized three “Pillars of the Community” recipients at Friday’s 11th-Annual Boots and Suits Gala at the Cleburne Conference Center.
Art Mann was named the “Pillar of the Community” for Hillsboro; Patsy Dumas for Burleson; and Cathy Marchel for Cleburne.
“We looked for individuals who are essential to the life of their communities,” Associate Director of Development. “This year’s three recipients were also recognized not only for their hard work, but also for their giving back to their communities.”
The Boots and Suits Gala is an annual event for Hill College in which proceeds go toward student scholarships as well as improvements to both the Hill County and Johnson County campuses and/or programs.

On Tuesday, April 12 the Lake Whitney Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony at West Shore Civic Association, located at 560 FM 3118 in Laguna Park.
WSCA is dedicated to the welfare of the communities on the west shore of Lake Whitney. Their 70 plus members strive to improve and care for their community by having blood drives, Meals on Wheels,
fall cleanup, supporting the West Shore Volunteer Fire Department and Laguna Park Library. Their big fundraisers are a barbecue on Memorial Day, Valentine breakfast, large cleanup breakfast and small things during the year. This money goes to the fall cleanup, where they provide all the dumpsters and workers for the cleanup event in October. WSCA also provides the service of Santa’s angels for the families in Laguna Park every Christmas and many other activities.

RUN for the HILLS 5K – Benefiting Graduating Seniors.
The Bosque County Rotary Club will hold the “RUN for the HILLS” 5K and 1K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 23rd in Clifton. Proceeds from the event will help support scholarships for deserving graduating seniors throughout Bosque County. In 2015, the Bosque Rotary Club awarded 30 scholarships totaling $23,500.
Our run will take place in Clifton City Park along the banks of the Bosque River. The course is on a paved road closed to traffic. RUN for the HILLS is reflective of the beautiful “Hill Country” views, not changes of elevation on the course. Course has approximately 40 feet of gradual elevation increase in the first half, which you get back for your last half of the 5K.
Registrations received by April 16th will pay a discounted entry fee of $25 for the 5K and $15 for the 1K. The registration fee after April 16th will be $30 and $20 for the 5K and 1K, respectively. All fees are non-refundable. Registrations will be accepted on race day. Registrations received by April 9th will be guaranteed an event t-shirt.
The 1K Fun Run/Walk is a great way for families with kids of all ages to get involved in this great cause.
Check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m. The 1K Fun Run begins at 8:45 a.m. and the 5K begins at 9:00 a. m.
