On Saturday the Lake Whitney Chamber of Commerce held it’s 5th. annual Discover Downtown Whitney and Classic Car Show along with the 3rd. annual Halloween Costume Pet Parade.

Approximately 1,000 people braved the sprinkling rain to view the cars and march their pets.  The afternoon weather was great and many awards were given out to the 35 car entries and 20 pet parade entries.

1st. place winner in the pets was Ginger a mix breed shown by Johnny Rowland of Whitney.  Besides a trophy he received a Pet Smart gift certificate.  Pix attached #091

3rd. place went to T-bone, an English bulldog with owner Debbie Jones of Whitney.  An Honorable mention ribbon award went to Rod, a Yorkie with owner Nan Russell of Morgan.   All the entrants received doggy treat bags for participating.  This has become a very popular event and we look forward to it next year.

A 50/50 raffle was held with proceeds going to Debbie Clay of Whitney and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.

In the car show category, may awards were given out.  Top prize of People’s Choice went to Bob Comer of Whitney with his 1957 Cadillac Convertible.  This was strictly judged by the spectators. Pix #074
